Campus Updates

Business and Operations provides foundational support to the University, from facilities management and mobility to building access, with safety as our top priority. Additional operational resources are available to assist Pitt community members during the pandemic and beyond.

Fall 2021 Updates – September 2021

Operational support continues on campus across all Business and Operations units. Return plans and flexible work arrangements vary by department, and are specific to their area to support University needs, including office and lab space planning. The Office of Human Resources (OHR) has developed variety of resources, including the new Interim Flex Work Arrangements policy and supervisor training to support staff.

What to Expect on Campus – September 2021

Pitt's Healthcare Advisory Group has revised Standards and Guidelines for on-campus operations and is longer using Operational Postures and Area Activity plans.

For those returning to campus at any time, please remember to continue following Pitt’s health rules. The health rules will continue to evolve in the coming weeks and months. Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must continue to wear face coverings inside campus buildings. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated, or those who are immunocompromised, should continue wearing face coverings outdoors when they are unable to maintain physical distancing. 

Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout campus, and we strongly recommend getting vaccinated to protect yourself and others. The University requires every student, faculty and staff member to comply with certain virus mitigation measures, including regular COVID-19 testing, unless they provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. University community members will be assumed to be unvaccinated unless proof is provided.

Office of Business and Auxiliary Services

Office of Facilities Management

The Office of Facilities Management continues to maintain stringent cleaning protocols and HVAC systems on campus.

Office of Human Resources

Updates and resources for faculty and staff, as well as childcare resources and COVID-19 standards and guidelines are available from the Office of Human Resources.

Office of Planning, Design and Real Estate

The Office of Planning, Design and Real Estate can assist with adapting spaces to accommodate physical distancing and hybrid work area layouts, tailored by unit, across campus.
