DEI Strategic Advisory Body

Business and Operations fosters an environment that prioritizes an inclusive sense of belonging where all University community members are welcomed, supported, and affirmed. We know that having diverse backgrounds and perspectives generates better ideas to solve complex problems.

About the Advisory Body

The Business and Operations’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategic Advisory Body ensures these foundational values are met, serving in a strategic advisory role and providing guidance on policy, procedure, and planning that builds on the Plan for Pitt and Business and Operations’ unit-level DEI initiatives. The advisory body is co-sponsored by Dave DeJong, Senior Vice Chancellor for Business and Operations, and Rebecca Roadman, Chief of Staff for Business and Operations.

Goals of the Advisory Body

This cross-functional body seeks to address the following:

  • Fulfill the group’s charter, including mission, goals, scope and roles
  • Provide strategic DEI leadership and guidance to Business and Operations’ leaders
  • Share DEI best practices and actionable insights to benefit all Business and Operations’ units

The DEI Strategic Advisory Body does not execute events or initiatives in Business and Operations. Instead, they provide overarching counsel and guidance in helping unit leaders to develop DEI plans, refine policies and processes to improve DEI practices within Business and Operations that reflect the commitment to an equitable, inclusive workplace for all.
