Office of Planning, Design and Construction

Planning, Design and Construction oversees campus development, including capital planning, architectural design, construction, signage, and space planning services, supporting advancement of the University’s campus master plan. The team also provides architectural and construction management services to Pitt’s regional campuses.

  • Review the Campus Master Plan - The University's campus master plan is a road map for decades to come, guided by input from faculty, students and staff along with community members. 
  • Review the Institutional Master Plan - Complimenting the CMP, the IMP is submitted to the City of Pittsburgh with details on city regulations, including building height and mass, mobility, and design.
  • View key construction project updates - The University continues to progress on campus improvements that will benefit Pitt community members for decades to come, transforming facility offerings and supporting economic growth in the region.

Campus Signage

The Planning and Design team supports the Pitt Community in all signage design and placement planning services, as well as installation support in partnership with Facilities Management. This includes interior, exterior, temporary and construction signage. If you are interested in updating or adding signage to your space, please visit and review the Signage Request Guide.

Space Planning

The Planning and Design team provides strategic space planning and consultation services to Pitt community members. If you are a Pitt faculty or staff member interested in decreasing, increasing or relocating your University-owned or managed office, department or work space, review your request with your RC Head and submit an internal space request.
